Call for Contributions: Online Zine and Pontypridd Green Week Anthology

To celebrate Pontypridd Green Week we are thrilled to announce the upcoming first edition of our new online zine, in line with the theme of Humans as Nature this issue is dedicated to exploring and celebrating nature and community in the vibrant town of Pontypridd. We invite poets and writers from near and far to contribute their works and help us weave a tapestry of narratives that capture the spirit of the Valley. Selected contributions will also be included in an online anthology showcasing the creative works of Pontypridd Green Week over the past 4 years.

Bando’r Beirdd are particularly interested in amplifying and celebrating traditionally marginalised voices and contributions can be in any language.

If you are a writer of colour / disabled / neurodiverse/ queer / marginalised writer, we want to share your work!

Submission Guidelines

Theme: Each submission should reflect the beauty of nature, the strength of community, or the unique intertwining of both within Pontypridd.

Length: Poems up to 40 lines; Short stories up to 1500 words.

Format: Submissions should be sent as Word documents or in email to admin@bandorbeirdd.cymru

Deadline: May 31, 2024

If you are safe to, please Include your full name, a brief bio (approx. 60 words), any links you’d like us to include such as XTwitter or Instagram and put your contact information in your submission email. If you have safeguarding requirements please let us know in your email.

What We’re Looking For:

We encourage submissions that:

– Reflect personal and lived experiences or imaginative reflections on Pontypridd’s natural landscapes and communal ties.

– Offer fresh perspectives or insightful narratives that inspire connection and appreciation.

– Engage with the cultural, historical, and environmental aspects of Pontypridd.

Selected contributions will be featured in our online publication as well as the Green Week Anthology and contributors will receive a digital copy of the zine. This is a fantastic opportunity to share your voice, celebrate our community, and connect with readers who share your passion for nature and storytelling.
