Bando’r Beirdd had such a lush atmosphere, it was incredible to be connecting with artists from across Wales in the pub ‘round the corner from me!
After meeting them at Bando’r Beirdd, Rufus and Tasha brought me along with them to see the mega cool Coedwig Creu the following day, which was THE BEST!! We got to share about our practices and see the potential of an outdoors arts/performance space that works in harmony with nature. It helped me reimagine what an arts space is and what an alternative space like this could add to a creation process. A brilliant way to spend Ponty Green week!
This really helped my research process as part of Pontio’r Cenedl, a project connecting young artists from different communities in Wales, exploring our connections to place and what culture means to us. Touring the space at Coedwig Creu with Rufus and Tasha informed my thinking around how culture and the things that connect us are impacted by landscape alone, even before considering other factors. We all spoke about how peaceful and at home we felt there, and were excited by the chance encounters we had with the wildlife.
